Signs Of Divide is the forty seventh chapter in The Walking Dead: All-Stars.

Plot

Humans are creatures that can easily be divided. Even if they were close friends, they can easily drift apart due to the smallest reasons, which are truly insignificant when looked back upon. This division can happen more quickly and become irreversible if competing groups become involved.

Synopsis

Fynn and Stefan come back are coming back from a fishing expedition when they are stopped by two guards from the Riverside Village who demand they return the fish back to the river. Maximilian asks them what right they have to demand such a ridiculous request, with the guards stating that Stefan only authorizes certain people to fish during certain times of the year, then demanding again to put the fish back or else. Fynn, trying to defuse the situation before it becomes hostile, says he will speak to Stefan. The guards leave, but not before making snide comments about how the Mansion Residents only think about themselves. As they head back home, both men talk about their issues with Stefan. Both men then start to talk about their past before the apocalypse, with Maximilian discussing the backstory of the mansion. On their way back home, they stop at Stefan’s place. Stefan, sarcastically amused at their presence invites them inside. Fynn starts to discuss the ridiculous fishing rule that The Village is attempting to implement and force the Mansion to follow. Fynn states how all this is rooted in pre-apocalyptic East Berlin versus West Berlin prejudice and politics that Stefan is using to fearmonger over the village. Fynn states that they want to work with the village but are unable to with Stefan’s continual perpetuation of division through politics. Stefan hides a final warning about the fishing rule under the guise of wanting to start anew with the Mansion, but Fynn sees straight though his charade. Fynn departs, warning him that they too have a lot of people ready to defend their home in case Stefan tries anything.
