- While working alongside the escaped Saviors in order to fight off a herd, Rick and Morgan suddenly kill several of the men without warning. During a final fight with Jared during the skirmish, Morgan purposefully traps him in a hallway full of walkers and holds him in place against a grate, ensuring that Jared will get eaten and giving Morgan and Henry their revenge for Benjamin's murder. - Bitter about losing his power to Maggie, Gregory gets Earl Sutton drunk and manipulates the grieving father into murdering Maggie. The attempt fails thanks to Enid, Alden and Cynthia, as does an attempt by Gregory himself to kill Maggie afterwards. For the murder attempt and his other crimes, Maggie has Gregory executed by hanging while Earl is imprisoned in the Hilltop's jail cell. (A New Beginning) Earl is imprisoned for over a month, but after talking with Earl herself, Maggie grants him a supervised release and a second chance, sympathetic to his grief and alcoholism because of her own father's struggle with drinking. - Realizing that Maggie can't be reasoned with and the danger that she and her friends pose, Lance sends Leah, Romano and a number of Commonwealth soldiers to ambush and kill them. However, Daryl, Aaron and Gabriel kill Romano and his men while Maggie, Elijah and Marco are able to kill three more with a bomb trap. Although Leah succeeds in killing Marco and capturing Maggie, she is killed by Daryl before Leah can succeed in killing Maggie. (Acts of God)
- Eugene is hunted down for Sebastian Milton's murder after causing his death by throwing a walker off of Max Mercer and onto Sebastian during the latter's attempt to kill Max. Pamela Milton intends to put Eugene on trial for the murder, although Michael Mercer seeks to protect his sister by placing all of the blame on Eugene. Eugene eventually turns himself in and confesses, but he claims that he had acted alone in exposing Sebastian's greed and contempt before his death.
